The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar was the first coin issued to honor President John F. Kennedy following his assassination. These coins are made of 90% silver and 10% copper. The mint mark on the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar is located on the reverse side, below the eagle's claws grasping the olive branch. There are two varieties: one from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark) and one from the Denver Mint ("D" mint mark).
